Micah Chapter 1

Micah 1:1 (AMP)

1 The word of the Lord that came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw [through divine revelation] concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

Micah 1:2 (NASB)

2 Hear, O peoples, all of you; Listen, O earth and all it contains, And let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple.

Micah 1:3 (NIV)

3 Look! The Lord is coming from his dwelling place; he comes down and treads the high places of the earth.

Micah 1:4 (NIV)

4 The mountains melt beneath him and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like water rushing down a slope.

Micah 1:5 (AMP)

5 All this is because of the transgression of Jacob and the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? Is it not [the idol worship of] Samaria? And what are the high places [of idolatry] in Judah? Are they not Jerusalem?

Micah 1:6 (NIV)

6 “Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble, a place for planting vineyards. I will pour her stones into the valley and lay bare her foundations.

Micah 1:7 (AMP)

7 And all her carved images shall be broken in pieces, and all her hires [all that man would gain from desertion of God] shall be burned with fire, and all her idols will be laid waste; for from the hire of [one] harlot she gathered them, and to the hire of [another] harlot they shall return.

Micah 1:8 (AMP)

8 Therefore I [Micah] will lament and wail; I will go stripped and [virtually] naked; I will make a wailing like the jackals and a lamentation like the ostriches.

Micah 1:9 (AMP)

9 For [Samaria’s] wounds are incurable and they come even to Judah; He [the Lord] has reached to the gate of my people, to Jerusalem.

Micah 1:10 (AMP)

10 In Gath [a city in Philistia] announce it not; in Acco weep not at all, [betraying your grief to foreigners; but among your own people] in Beth-le-aphrah [house of dust] roll yourself in the dust.

Micah 1:11 (AMP)

11 Pass on your way [into exile], dwellers of Shaphir, in shameful nakedness. The dwellers of Zaanan dare not come forth; the wailing of Beth-ezel takes away from you the place on which it stands.

Micah 1:12 (AMP)

12 For the inhabitant of Maroth [bitterness] writhes in pain [at its losses] and waits anxiously for good, because evil comes down from the Lord to the gate of Jerusalem.

Micah 1:13 (NIV)

13 You who live in Lachish, harness the team to the chariot. You were the beginning of sin to the Daughter of Zion, for the transgressions of Israel were found in you.

Micah 1:14 (NIV)

14 Therefore you will give parting gifts to Moresheth Gath. The town of Aczib will prove deceptive to the kings of Israel.

Micah 1:15 (AMP)

15 Yet will I bring a conqueror upon you, O lady inhabitant of Mareshah, who shall possess you; the glory and nobility of Israel shall come to Adullam [to hide in the caves, as did David].

Micah 1:16 (NIV)

16 Shave your heads in mourning for the children in whom you delight; make yourselves as bald as the vulture, for they will go from you into exile.

Micah Chapter 2

Micah 2:1 (NIV)

1 Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.

Micah 2:2 (NIV)

2 They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud a man of his home, a fellowman of his inheritance.

Micah 2:3 (NIV)

3 Therefore, the Lord says: “I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity.

Micah 2:4 (AMP)

4 In that day shall they take up a [taunting] parable against you and wail with a doleful and bitter lamentation and say, We are utterly ruined and laid waste! [God] changes the portion of my people. How He removes it from me! He divides our fields [to the rebellious, our captors].

Micah 2:5 (NIV)

5 Therefore you will have no one in the assembly of the Lord to divide the land by lot.

Micah 2:6 (NIV)

6 “Do not prophesy,” their prophets say. “Do not prophesy about these things; disgrace will not overtake us.”

Micah 2:7 (AMP)

7 O house of Jacob, shall it be said, Is the Spirit of the Lord restricted, impatient, and shortened? Or are these [prophesied plagues] His doings? Do not My words do good to him who walks uprightly?

Micah 2:8 (CJB)

8 But lately my people behave like an enemy, stripping both cloaks and tunics from travelers who thought they were secure, so that they become like war refugees.

Micah 2:9 (NIV)

9 You drive the women of my people from their pleasant homes. You take away my blessing from their children forever.

Micah 2:10 (NIV)

10 Get up, go away! For this is not your resting place, because it is defiled, it is ruined, beyond all remedy.

Micah 2:11 (NIV)

11 If a liar and deceiver comes and says, ‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’ he would be just the prophet for this people!

Micah 2:12 (NIV)

12 “I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will surely bring together the remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in its pasture; the place will throng with people.

Micah 2:13 (NIV)

13 One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their king will pass through before them, the Lord at their head.”

Micah Chapter 3

Micah 3:1 (CJB)-M

1 “I said, ‘Please listen, leaders of Jacob, rulers of the house of Israel: Shouldn’t you know what justice is?

Micah 3:2 (AMP)

2 You who hate the good and love the evil, who pluck and steal the skin from off [My people] and their flesh from off their bones;

Micah 3:3 (AMP)

3 Yes, you who eat the flesh of my people and strip their skin from off them, who break their bones and chop them in pieces as for the pot, like meat in a big kettle.

Micah 3:4 (NIV)

4 Then they will cry out to the Lord, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.

Micah 3:5 (CJB)-M

5 Here is what the Lord says in regard to the prophets who cause my people to go astray, who cry, “Peace” as soon as they are given food to eat but prepare war against anyone who fails to put something in their mouths:

Micah 3:6 (NIV)

6 Therefore night will come over you, without visions, and darkness, without divination. The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them.

Micah 3:7 (NIV)

7 The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”

Micah 3:8 (NIV)

8 But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin.

Micah 3:9 (NIV)

9 Hear this, you leaders of the house of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right;

Micah 3:10 (NIV)

10 who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness.

Micah 3:11 (NIV)

11 Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the Lord and say, “Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.”

Micah 3:12 (NIV)

12 Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.

Micah Chapter 4

Micah 4:1 (NIV)

1 In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.

Micah 4:2 (NIV)

2 Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Micah 4:3 (NIV)

3 He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Micah 4:4 (NIV)

4 Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken.

Micah 4:5 (NIV)

5 All the nations may walk in the name of their gods; we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.

Micah 4:6 (NASB)

6 “In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will assemble the lame And gather the outcasts, Even those whom I have afflicted.

Micah 4:7 (NIV)

7 I will make the lame a remnant, those driven away a strong nation. The Lord will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever.

Micah 4:8 (NIV)

8 As for you, O watchtower of the flock, O stronghold of the Daughter of Zion, the former dominion will be restored to you; kingship will come to the Daughter of Jerusalem.”

Micah 4:9 (NIV)

9 Why do you now cry aloud– have you no king? Has your counselor perished, that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor?

Micah 4:10 (NIV)

10 Writhe in agony, O Daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you must leave the city to camp in the open field. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued. There the Lord will redeem you out of the hand of your enemies.

Micah 4:11 (NIV)

11 But now many nations are gathered against you. They say, “Let her be defiled, let our eyes gloat over Zion!”

Micah 4:12 (NIV)

12 But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord; they do not understand his plan, he who gathers them like sheaves to the threshing floor.

Micah 4:13 (NIV)

13 “Rise and thresh, O Daughter of Zion, for I will give you horns of iron; I will give you hoofs of bronze and you will break to pieces many nations.” You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the Lord, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

Micah Chapter 5

Micah 5:1 (NIV)

1 Marshal your troops, O city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel’s ruler on the cheek with a rod.

Micah 5:2 (AMP)

2 But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, you are little to be among the clans of Judah; [yet] out of you shall One come forth for Me Who is to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth have been from of old, from ancient days (eternity).

Micah 5:3 (AMP)

3 Therefore shall He give them up until the time that she who travails has brought forth; then what is left of His brethren shall return to the children of Israel.

Micah 5:4 (NIV)

4 He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.

Micah 5:5 (AMP)

5 And this [One] shall be our peace. When the Assyrian comes into our land and treads upon our soil and in our palaces, then will we raise against him seven shepherds and eight princes among men.

Micah 5:6 (AMP)

6 And they shall rule and waste the land of Assyria with the sword and the land of Nimrod within her [Assyria’s own] gates. Thus shall He [the Messiah] deliver us from the Assyrian [representing the opposing powers] when he comes into our land and when he treads on our borders.

Micah 5:7 (NIV)

7 The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for man or linger for mankind.

Micah 5:8 (NIV)

8 The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which mauls and mangles as it goes, and no one can rescue.

Micah 5:9 (NIV)

9 Your hand will be lifted up in triumph over your enemies, and all your foes will be destroyed.

Micah 5:10 (NIV)

10 “In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots.

Micah 5:11 (NIV)

11 I will destroy the cities of your land and tear down all your strongholds.

Micah 5:12 (NIV)

12 I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.

Micah 5:13 (NIV)

13 I will destroy your carved images and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.

Micah 5:14 (AMP)

14 And I will root out your Asherim [symbols of the goddess Asherah] and I will destroy your cities [the seats of false worship].

Micah 5:15 (NIV)

15 I will take vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed me.”

Micah Chapter 6

Micah 6:1 (AMP)

1 Hear now what the Lord says: Arise, contend and plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.

Micah 6:2 (NIV)

2 Hear, O mountains, the Lord’s accusation; listen, you everlasting foundations of the earth. For the Lord has a case against his people; he is lodging a charge against Israel.

Micah 6:3 (AMP)

3 O My people, what have I done to you? And in what have I wearied you? Testify against Me [answer Me]!

Micah 6:4 (NIV)

4 I brought you up out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. I sent Moses to lead you, also Aaron and Miriam.

Micah 6:5 (NIV)

5 My people, remember what Balak king of Moab counseled and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember [your journey] from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Micah 6:6 (NIV)

6 With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?

Micah 6:7 (NIV)

7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

Micah 6:8 (NIV)

8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:9 (NIV)

9 Listen! The Lord is calling to the city– and to fear your name is wisdom– “Heed the rod and the One who appointed it.

Micah 6:10 (AMP)

10 Are there not still treasures gained by wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a scant measure [a false measure for grain] that is abominable and accursed?

Micah 6:11 (AMP)

11 Can I be pure [Myself, and acquit the man] with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?

Micah 6:12 (NIV)

12 Her rich men are violent; her people are liars and their tongues speak deceitfully.

Micah 6:13 (AMP)

13 Therefore I have also smitten you with a deadly wound and made you sick, laying you desolate, waste, and deserted because of your sins.

Micah 6:14 (NIV)

14 You will eat but not be satisfied; your stomach will still be empty. You will store up but save nothing, because what you save I will give to the sword.

Micah 6:15 (NIV)

15 You will plant but not harvest; you will press olives but not use the oil on yourselves, you will crush grapes but not drink the wine.

Micah 6:16 (AMP)

16 For the statutes of [idolatrous] Omri you have kept, and all the works of the house of [wicked] Ahab, and you walk in their counsels. Therefore I will make you a desolation and an astonishment and your [city’s] inhabitants a hissing, and you shall bear the reproach and scorn of My people.

Micah Chapter 7

Micah 7:1 (AMP)

1 WOE IS me! For I am as when the summer fruits have been gathered, as when the vintage grapes have been gleaned and there is no cluster to eat, no first-ripe fig for which my appetite craves.

Micah 7:2 (AMP)

2 The godly man has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; each hunts his brother with a net.

Micah 7:3 (AMP)

3 Both their hands are put forth and are upon what is evil to do it diligently; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters his evil desire. Thus they twist between them [the course of justice].

Micah 7:4 (AMP)

4 The best of them is like a brier; the most upright or the straightest is like a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even of [God’s] judgment and your punishment, has come; now shall be their perplexity and confusion.

Micah 7:5 (NIV)

5 Do not trust a neighbor; put no confidence in a friend. Even with her who lies in your embrace be careful of your words.

Micah 7:6 (NIV)

6 For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises up against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law– a man’s enemies are the members of his own household.

Micah 7:7 (NIV)

7 But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 7:8 (NIV)

8 Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.

Micah 7:9 (AMP)

9 I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold His righteous deliverance.

Micah 7:10 (AMP)

10 Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her who said to me, Where is the Lord your God? My eyes will see my desire upon her; now she will be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

Micah 7:11 (NIV)

11 The day for building your walls will come, the day for extending your boundaries.

Micah 7:12 (AMP)

12 In that day they will come to you from Assyria and from the cities of Matzor [Egypt] and from Egypt even to the river [Euphrates], from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.

Micah 7:13 (NIV)

13 The earth will become desolate because of its inhabitants, as the result of their deeds.

Micah 7:14 (NIV)

14 Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, which lives by itself in a forest, in fertile pasturelands. Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in days long ago.

Micah 7:15 (AMP)

15 As in the days of your coming forth from the land of Egypt, I will show them marvelous things.

Micah 7:16 (NLT)

16 All the nations of the world will stand amazed at what the Lord will do for you. They will be embarrassed at their feeble power. They will cover their mouths in silent awe, deaf to everything around them.

Micah 7:17 (NIV)

17 They will lick dust like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground. They will come trembling out of their dens; they will turn in fear to the Lord our God and will be afraid of you.

Micah 7:18 (NIV)

18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

Micah 7:19 (HCSB)

19 He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities and will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

Micah 7:20 (NIV)

20 You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our fathers in days long ago.
