Ephesians Chapter 1

Ephesians 1:1 (NIV)

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Ephesians 1:2 (NASB)

2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:3 (NIV)

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Ephesians 1:4 (NIV)

4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love

Ephesians 1:5 (CJB)

5 He determined in advance that through Jesus the Messiah we would be his sons— in keeping with his pleasure and purpose —

Ephesians 1:6 (CJB)

6 so that we would bring him praise commensurate with the glory of the grace he gave us through the Beloved One.

Ephesians 1:7 (NASB)

7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

Ephesians 1:8 (NIV)

8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

Ephesians 1:9 (CJB)

9 he has made known to us his secret plan, which by his own will he designed beforehand in connection with the Messiah

Ephesians 1:10 (CJB)

10 and will put into effect when the time is ripe — his plan to place everything in heaven and on earth under the Messiah’s headship.

Ephesians 1:11 (CJB)

11 Also in union with him we were given an inheritance, we who were picked in advance according to the purpose of the One who effects everything in keeping with the decision of his will,

Ephesians 1:12 (CJB)

12 so that we who earlier had put our hope in the Messiah would bring him praise commensurate with his glory.

Ephesians 1:13 (NASB)

13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 1:14 (AMP)

14 That [Spirit] is the guarantee of our inheritance [the firstfruits, the pledge and foretaste, the down payment on our heritage], in anticipation of its full redemption and our acquiring [complete] possession of it—to the praise of His glory.

Ephesians 1:15 (AMP)

15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints (the people of God),

Ephesians 1:16 (AMP)

16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.

Ephesians 1:17 (NASB)

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Ephesians 1:18 (NASB)

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

Ephesians 1:19 (NKJV)

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

Ephesians 1:20 (NKJV)

20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

Ephesians 1:21 (NKJV)

21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Ephesians 1:22 (NASB)

22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,

Ephesians 1:23 (NASB)

23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Ephesians Chapter 2

Ephesians 2:1 (NKJV)

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

Ephesians 2:2 (NKJV)

2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

Ephesians 2:3 (NIV)

3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

Ephesians 2:4 (NASB)

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

Ephesians 2:5 (NIV)

5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.

Ephesians 2:6 (NIV)

6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Ephesians 2:7 (CJB)

7 in order to exhibit in the ages to come how infinitely rich is his grace, how great is his kindness toward us who are united with the Messiah Yeshua.

Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Ephesians 2:9 (NASB)

9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:11 (NIV)

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (that done in the body by the hands of men)–

Ephesians 2:12 (CJB)

12 at that time had no Messiah. You were estranged from the national life of Isra’el. You were foreigners to the covenants embodying God’s promise. You were in this world without hope and without God.

Ephesians 2:13 (CJB)

13 But now, you who were once far off have been brought near through the shedding of the Messiah’s blood.

Ephesians 2:14 (NLT)

14 For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.

Ephesians 2:15 (NLT)

15 He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups.

Ephesians 2:16 (NLT)

16 Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.

Ephesians 2:17 (NLT)

17 He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near.

Ephesians 2:18 (NLT)

18 Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

Ephesians 2:19 (NLT)

19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.

Ephesians 2:20 (7KB)

20 You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with [Jesus the Messiah] Himself the chief Cornerstone.

Ephesians 2:21 (NIV)

21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.

Ephesians 2:22 (CJB)

22 Yes, in union with him, you yourselves are being built together into a spiritual dwelling-place for God!

Ephesians Chapter 3

Ephesians 3:1 (NASB)

1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

Ephesians 3:2 (NASB)

2 if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace which was given to me for you;

Ephesians 3:3 (CJB)

3 and that it was by a revelation that this secret plan was made known to me. I have already written about it briefly,

Ephesians 3:4 (CJB)

4 and if you read what I have written, you will grasp how I understand this secret plan concerning the Messiah.

Ephesians 3:5 (NIV)

5 which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.

Ephesians 3:6 (NIV)

6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 3:7 (NASB)

7 of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace which was given to me according to the working of His power.

Ephesians 3:8 (NIV)

8 Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

Ephesians 3:9 (AMP)

9 Also to enlighten all men and make plain to them what is the plan [regarding the Gentiles and providing for the salvation of all men] of the mystery kept hidden through the ages and concealed until now in [the mind of] God Who created all things by Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 3:10 (AMP)

10 [The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.

Ephesians 3:11 (AMP)

11 This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord,

Ephesians 3:12 (NASB)

12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

Ephesians 3:13 (CJB)

13 So I ask you not to be discouraged by the troubles I endure on your behalf — it is all for your glory.

Ephesians 3:14 (NKJV)

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ephesians 3:15 (NKJV)

15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

Ephesians 3:16 (NASB)

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

Ephesians 3:17 (NKJV)

17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

Ephesians 3:18 (CJB)

18 so that you, with all God’s people, will be given strength to grasp the breadth, length, height and depth of the Messiah’s love,

Ephesians 3:19 (NASB)

19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:20 (NASB)

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

Ephesians 3:21 (CJB)

21 to him be glory in the Messianic Community and in the Messiah Jesus from generation to generation forever. Amen.

Ephesians Chapter 4

Ephesians 4:1 (NASB)

1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

Ephesians 4:2 (NASB)

2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,

Ephesians 4:3 (NIV)

3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:4 (NIV)

4 There is one body and one Spirit– just as you were called to one hope when you were called–

Ephesians 4:5 (NIV)

5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

Ephesians 4:6 (NIV)

6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Ephesians 4:7 (NASB)

7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

Ephesians 4:8 (7KB)

8 This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, Jesus the Messiah led captives in his procession and gave ministry gifts to men.”

Ephesians 4:9 (NASB)

9 Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth?

Ephesians 4:10 (NASB)

10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.

Ephesians 4:11 (7KB)

11 In giving ministry gifts, the Lord gave some as Apostles, and some as Prophets, and some as Teachers and some as Pastors and some as Evangelists,

Ephesians 4:12 (7KB)

12 To fulfill their appointed Fivefold ministry role, first to perfect (or mature) the believers, and second to do the work of the ministry, and third to edify the body of Christ:

Ephesians 4:13 (NIV)

13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:14 (NIV)

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.

Ephesians 4:15 (NIV)

15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

Ephesians 4:16 (NIV)

16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Ephesians 4:17 (NIV)

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Ephesians 4:18 (NIV)

18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

Ephesians 4:19 (NIV)

19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

Ephesians 4:20 (NIV)

20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way.

Ephesians 4:21 (NIV)

21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.

Ephesians 4:22 (NIV)

22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

Ephesians 4:23 (NIV)

23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;

Ephesians 4:24 (NIV)

24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:25 (NIV)

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

Ephesians 4:26 (7KB)

26 Learn to distinguish holy anger from natural human anger. Do not let the sun go down while you are angry with natural human anger (which is a sin). Make restitution the same day and so close the door to the devil by repenting of this sin of yielding to natural human anger.

Ephesians 4:27 (NASB)-M

27 and do not give the devil an foothold of opportunity.

Ephesians 4:28 (NIV2011)-M

28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but the layman must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)-M

29 Let no foul or abusive language or unprofitable talk proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for edification so that your words may benefit those who hear them.

Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV)

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Ephesians 4:31 (NIV)

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians Chapter 5

Ephesians 5:1 (AMP)

1 Therefore be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].

Ephesians 5:2 (CJB)

2 and live a life of love, just as also the Messiah loved us, indeed, on our behalf gave himself up as an offering, as a slaughtered sacrifice to God with a pleasing fragrance.

Ephesians 5:3 (CJB)

3 Among you there should not even be mentioned sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or greed; these are utterly inappropriate for God’s holy people.

Ephesians 5:4 (NIV)

4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

Ephesians 5:5 (CJB)

5 For of this you can be sure: every sexually immoral, impure or greedy person — that is, every idol-worshipper — has no share in the Kingdom of the Messiah and of God.

Ephesians 5:6 (NIV)

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

Ephesians 5:7 (AMP)

7 So do not associate or be sharers with them.

Ephesians 5:8 (NKJV)

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Ephesians 5:9 (NKJV)

9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),

Ephesians 5:10 (AMP)

10 And try to learn [in your experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [let your lives be constant proofs of what is most acceptable to Him].

Ephesians 5:11 (AMP)

11 Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead [let your lives be so in contrast as to] expose and reprove and convict them.

Ephesians 5:12 (AMP)

12 For it is a shame even to speak of or mention the things that [such people] practice in secret.

Ephesians 5:13 (CJB)

13 But everything exposed to the light is revealed clearly for what it is,

Ephesians 5:14 (CJB)

14 since anything revealed is a light. This is why it says, “Get up, sleeper! Arise from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you!”

Ephesians 5:15 (AMP)

15 Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

Ephesians 5:16 (NASB)

16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:17 (AMP)

17 Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:18 (NIV)

18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:19 (NASB)

19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;

Ephesians 5:20 (CJB)

20 always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

Ephesians 5:21 (CJB)

21 Submit to one another in fear of the Messiah.

Ephesians 5:22 (AMP)

22 Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:23 (AMP)

23 For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body.

Ephesians 5:24 (AMP)

24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.

Ephesians 5:25 (AMP)

25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,

Ephesians 5:26 (AMP)

26 So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,

Ephesians 5:27 (NASB)

27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

Ephesians 5:28 (NASB)

28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;

Ephesians 5:29 (AMP)

29 For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,

Ephesians 5:30 (NKJV)

30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

Ephesians 5:31 (7KB)

31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one complete person.”

Ephesians 5:32 (NASB)

32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

Ephesians 5:33 (AMP)

33 However, let each man of you [without exception] love his wife as [being in a sense] his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly].

Ephesians Chapter 6

Ephesians 6:1 (HCSB)

1 Children, obey your parents as ⌊you would⌋ the Lord, because this is right.

Ephesians 6:2 (HCSB)

2 Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise,

Ephesians 6:3 (HCSB)-M

3 so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on the earth.

Ephesians 6:4 (HCSB)

4 Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:5 (HCSB)-M

5 Slaves, obey your human masters with the same fear and trembling and sincerity of your heart as you would in obeying Christ the Messiah.

Ephesians 6:6 (CJB)

6 Don’t obey just to win their favor, serving only when they are watching you; but serve as slaves of the Messiah, doing what God wants with all your heart.

Ephesians 6:7 (NIV)

7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,

Ephesians 6:8 (AMP)

8 Knowing that for whatever good anyone does, he will receive his reward from the Lord, whether he is slave or free.

Ephesians 6:9 (CJB)

9 And masters, treat your slaves the same way. Don’t threaten them. Remember that in heaven both you and they have the same Master, and he has no favorites.

Ephesians 6:10 (NKJV)-M

10 Finally brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV)

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV)-M

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and [after having done all that you know to do then take your stand in faith and never be moved.]

Ephesians 6:14 (NKJV)

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Ephesians 6:15 (NKJV)-M

15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace (with God);

Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV)

16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which, you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

Ephesians 6:17 (NKJV)

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV)

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

Ephesians 6:19 (NKJV)

19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Ephesians 6:20 (CJB)

20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may speak boldly, the way I should.

Ephesians 6:21 (NIV)

21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing.

Ephesians 6:22 (NIV)

22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.

Ephesians 6:23 (NIV)

23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:24 (CJB)

24 Grace be to all who love our Lord Yeshua the Messiah with undying love.
