Philemon Chapter 1

Philemon 1:1 (NIV)

1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker,

Philemon 1:2 (NKJV)

2 to the beloved Apphia, Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in your house:

Philemon 1:3 (NIV)

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philemon 1:4 (NIV)

4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers,

Philemon 1:5 (NIV)

5 because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints.

Philemon 1:6 (NASB)

6 and I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ’s sake.

Philemon 1:7 (AMP)

7 For I have derived great joy and comfort and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints [who are your fellow Christians] have been cheered and refreshed through you, [my] brother.

Philemon 1:8 (NIV)

8 Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do,

Philemon 1:9 (NIV)

9 yet I appeal to you on the basis of love. I then, as Paul–an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus–

Philemon 1:10 (NKJV)

10 I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains,

Philemon 1:11 (AMP)

11 Once he was unprofitable to you, but now he is indeed profitable to you as well as to me.

Philemon 1:12 (NKJV)

12 I am sending him back. You therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,

Philemon 1:13 (NKJV)

13 whom I wished to keep with me, that on your behalf he might minister to me in my chains for the gospel.

Philemon 1:14 (NASB)

14 but without your consent I did not want to do anything, so that your goodness would not be, in effect, by compulsion but of your own free will.

Philemon 1:15 (NASB)

15 For perhaps he was for this reason separated from you for a while, that you would have him back forever,

Philemon 1:16 (CJB)

16 no longer as a slave but as more than a slave, as a dear brother. And that he is, especially to me. But how much dearer he must be to you, both humanly and in union with the Lord!

Philemon 1:17 (NASB)

17 If then you regard me a partner, accept him as you would me.

Philemon 1:18 (NASB)

18 But if he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge that to my account;

Philemon 1:19 (NASB)

19 I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand, I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self as well).

Philemon 1:20 (CJB)

20 Yes, brother, please do me this favor in the Lord; refresh my heart in the Messiah.

Philemon 1:21 (NKJV)

21 Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.

Philemon 1:22 (NKJV)

22 But, meanwhile, also prepare a guest room for me, for I trust that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.

Philemon 1:23 (AMP)

23 Greetings to you from Epaphras, my fellow prisoner here in [the cause of] Christ Jesus (the Messiah),

Philemon 1:24 (AMP)

24 And [from] Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers.

Philemon 1:25 (CJB)

25 The grace of the Lord Jesus the Messiah be with your spirit.
