South Koreans: A Group Worth Propagating

This post discusses the pressing issue of low birth rates in South Korea and fact that Koreans are currently headed toward extinction. This is because the birthrates are much lower that the death rates (with a lack of children being born to replace the elderly who pass away).

Korean Population Headed Toward Extinction

Currently the birthrate in Korea is the lowest on earth. In the year 2023 for example, there was only five babies born for every 1,000 people within the entire population in South Korea. The birthrate has dropped by over 50% in the last ten years and the number of marriages in Korea is also in steady decline.

Currently the number of deaths exceeds the number of births meaning that there are not enough children being born to replace the elderly who are going to the grave. See video timestamp 02:46 for more details.

In the last 16-years the Korean government has invested an equivalent of over 212-Billion USD on countermeasures seeking to reverse low birthrates in the country. Yet the birthrates in Korea have dropped over 50% during this same time frame. See video timestamp 03:16 for more details.

High housing costs contribute to the reason why young people are forsaking both marriage and starting a family. A modest home can sell for an equivalent of over 600,000 USD and the homes prices continue to increase. The government has done a good job with their housing program called “LH” which stands for the Land and Housing Authority and they are building affordable housing as fast as they can. However, this has not slowed the dropping marriage and birth rates which continue to plummet until this present time. See the video timestamp 03:49 for more details.

The average annual income of South Koreans has only been about an equivalent of $36,000 USD. At this rate a married couple would have to save over 40% of their income for over 20-years to pay for even the most modest priced housing. See video timestamp 04:14 for more details.

There are various issues involved with why the young people (20-30 years old) are abandoning marriage and family. Money is the primary factor with the high cost of housing and low income. Also, Korea has a highly competitive society and parents often spend their entire life savings trying to get their children into good schools and academies. Everyone does this so your children do not participate they will be left behind. This places great pressure upon young people for academic performance, so much so that there is now a full-time police force operating rescue boats under major bridges in Seoul to save those over-pressured students who attempt suicide! See video timestamp 11:54 for more details.

There are 27-bridges that span the Han River which cuts through the city of Seoul and the city reports that each year nearly 500-suicide attempts happen at these crossings. See video timestamp 11:54 for more details.

Most of these attempted suicides are by young people who are under great pressure to preform academically after their parents have sacrificed so much to send them to the best schools. The leading cause of suicide in Korea can be attributed to the competitive Korean culture (which includes “high-pressure” academic competition).

Marriage and Family Now Fallen by the Wayside

Young people in Korea are now forced to prioritize themselves after they have sacrificed so much to get to their company positions. They now have to consider what is best for their own happiness first. They typically consider travel and leisure and hobbies and better cars as more important that saving for a home and marriage (which seem like a goal that is unobtainable in the current economic situation in Korea). It does little good for the government to give free money for child births that only affect some hospital expenses but does not deal with the main issue of raising a child in such an expensive situation.

Building a New Society Conducive to Marriage and Family

We have a plan however to build a new society that is geared toward marriage and family which makes is easier for our young people to obtain a home and the free time needed for providing quality parental time in raising their own children.

Under our program we plan to build not only housing but also a production system which can generate energy and food and products in a fully automated system. The initial construction cost of this system will be higher than building a house only but at the same time this system will also produce a continual income for the owner and therefore it has the potential to pay for itself. With the “income-production” that this system creates, our people will have the housing and the income they need so that they can focus more time on mentoring their own children toward greatness.
