Purpose of a Man

The purpose that men are given on earth (by God) is twofold. First, they are to fear God and keep God’s commandments because this is the duty of all mankind. Secondly, men are to start a family and procreate and then teach their children and grandchildren about the things of God so that the knowledge of God can be passed onto future generations.

Genesis 18:19 (NASB95)
19 “For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.”

The reason that God chose Abraham was that Abraham could be trusted to teach his children and grandchildren after him about the things of God so that they would keep the way of the Lord by doing what is righteous and just in God’s sight.

Ecclesiastes 12:13–14 (NIV)
13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

The whole duty of mankind in general is to fear God and keep his commandments. But the only way that people have any knowledge whatsoever is if they are taught God’s word. The best way to accomplish this is if every man takes responsibility over his own household to teach his children about the things of God and what is required of them to live a life that is pleasing in God’s sight.

Abraham trained his children and grandchildren in the things of God. This is how the knowledge was passed from Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob and onto his twelve sons. Then the twelve sons of Jacob multiplied to become the twelve tribes of Israel. These people increased in population to over 600,000 family units (all headed by a Jewish heads of households). Soon this nation of people would bring the knowledge of God to the whole earth. Moses brought this nation of people out of Egypt to meet with God and they received the commandments of God in written form. Today these sacred writings of what is called the Jewish Torah have been translated from Hebrew into the Old Testament of the Bible (within all of its various languages).

So, the knowledge of God was given to Abraham who taught it to his children and grandchildren by passing it on orally until the time of Moses. Then God gave the law in written form. This knowledge is now preserved in the bible for use in teaching the knowledge of God to all generations until this present time.

If every man would raise his own children in the same manner as Abraham, then the knowledge of God has to potential to be passed onto all of the following generations. In this manner, the knowledge of God can be multiplied to cover the whole earth. This is God’s plan to pass this sacred knowledge onto the majority of people on earth via the instruction of fathers passing it on to their own children. Thus, the knowledge of God is like seed that can reproduce on the earth and be passed onto future generations.

Genesis 7:1 (NASB95)
1 Then the LORD said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time.

It is interesting that in the time of Noah the entire earth was corrupted and became defiled under the influence of Satan. God then destroyed all humanity except one godly man and his family. After the flood, the land animals reproduced again from pairs of every type of animal. Noah had three sons who also reproduced with their wives to repopulate the earth once again. But the most important thing to God was that each family pass onto to their own children and grandchildren the knowledge of God.

This is why the most important purpose of men (right after keeping God’s commands themselves) is to marry and reproduce their own children and teach these godly principles to their own offspring. In this manner, the knowledge of God will not die off on earth after the godly generation goes to their graves. It will be continued to be passed on to every generation (as long as no man fails to teach his own family).

This means that men are to be the heads of their own households and they are to teach the things of God to their own children. Therefore, having children is an essential part of fulfilling the plan and purpose of God for all humanity on earth. But also, these children must be mentored in the knowledge of God otherwise they will become useless like the wicked population of the earth that was culled in the days of Noah.

It is interesting that only Noah and his family were considered righteous out of the entire world population in that day. Noah had godly influence upon his sons and they married and could have godly influence on their children. Thus, righteousness was passed from Noah to his sons and then passed onto their sons.

It is evident that just multiplying humans (alone) is not the goal because without the knowledge of God these same people will end up only as fodder for hell. The entire world’s population was wiped out in the time of Noah because they had all been corrupted and became wicked and immoral (except for Noah and his family). The reason that Noah and his family were preserved was because Noah was the only one left on earth who embraced the knowledge of God and lived by God’s commands and he taught these commands to his children so they would do the same.

Genesis 8:15–17 (NASB95)
15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying,
16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.
17 “Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”

After the flood subsided, God commanded that Noah and his sons and their wives go out of the ark and they and the land animals preserved within the ark should multiply and fill the earth. But again, it should be noted that just the multiplication of humans was not the only goal but God’s purpose was that these people also be taught the things of God so that the knowledge of God would be spread to the entire human population on earth for future generations.

Man and His Whole Household

Genesis 17:26–27 (NASB95)
26 In the very same day Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
27 All the men of his household, who were born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

In the time of Abraham, God made a covenant with him and the sign of this covenant was in circumcision. This was the removal of the foreskin of the male penis which leaves a scar as a sign of the covenant. This might seem like an odd body part for such a “covenant-mark” but it nevertheless holds great spiritual significance.

Psalm 82:6 (NASB95)
6 I said, “You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High.

This scripture says that humans are “gods” and the sons of the Most High God. Mankind was created in the image of God. The reason that humans are referred to as “gods” is because humans are given the power of procreation. This creative attribute places people on a higher level than animals (which simply physically reproduce other animals of their own kind). When a man and his wife have sexual relations together then the male sperm unites with a female egg. It is at this moment of conception that an eternal human spirit is created. This is not just a physical body which is created (as in the case of animal reproduction). But in fact an eternal spirit is created because humans are also spirit beings that live within a human body while on earth. See the link “Three Parts of Man” for more details.

So, men have been given the power to create eternal “spirit beings” and this is the power of creation that God possessed when he created the first humans on earth.

Genesis 2:7 (NASB95)
7 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

The first human (Adam) was created out of the dust of the earth. It is interesting that modern science shows that the human body is made of the same elements found in the soil of the earth. But the man was not complete when he just possessed a human physical body only. He was made alive after God breathed into the man his spirit.

John 4:24 (NASB95)
24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The bible says that God is a spirit and this “spirit being” breathed his spirit into the physical body of Adam and then Adam become a living being.

John 10:34 (NASB95)
34 Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law, ‘I SAID, YOU ARE GODS’?

Jesus said that humans are gods because they are made in the same class of “spirit-beings” as God is also made and they are sons of the Living God! This came about because God granted the power of procreation to humans so that they can create living spirit beings which possess an eternal spirit.

Sacred Nature of Sexual Relations in Marriage

Therefore, it is the purpose of Jewish circumcision (the removal of the foreskin of the male penis) that signifies the “sacred nature” of sexual relations in marriage. The male sperm is alive and can swim like a microscopic “tadpole” and can find and unite together with a microscopic female egg during sexual relations. When the male sperm and female egg unite, this creates an eternal spirit being. The first man Adam had his “spirit being” infused into him by the breath of God but all following humans ever born on earth were created as “spirit-beings” by the power of procreation given to mankind. This is a sacred power that elevates humans onto the level of being “gods” who can create new eternal spirit-beings in the same capacity as God. This is why the scriptures refer to humans as being “gods” because they have godlike powers of procreation that goes beyond just the creation of physical bodies but also includes the creation of a living “spirit-being” that is eternal in nature. This eternal human spirit will live forever either in heaven with God or forever in hell for failure for accept the atonement for sins that God has provided for all humanity. Again, see the link “Three Parts of Man” for more details.

Symbolic Jewish Circumcision

Jewish circumcision (given to Abraham by God) is symbolic that the male organ has the power of eternal procreation with godlike powers. Therefore, this mark of circumcision (scar) left on the male penis is symbolic that this organ is intended only for use within marriage and only for the purpose of procreation. All forms of sexual activity (outside of marriage between a man and a woman) is strictly forbidden by God. Same-sex relations is forbidden by God and sexual relations with animals is forbidden by God and sexual relations with people who are not married to each other are all strictly forbidden by God.

It is therefore symbolic that Jewish circumcision shows that this man is under covenant with God and his private parts are sacred in the sight of God and their use are to be reserved only within the holy matrimony of the marriage union of a man and a woman. God created sex for procreation and the human sex drive and pleasure derived from sexual relations between a man and a woman is to foster them to reproduce. If humans had no thirst for water they would die of dehydration. If humans had not hunger for food they would die of starvation. If humans had no sex drive, they would fail to procreate and would go extinct. Therefore, the sex drive and sexual desires between a man and his wife are natural and created by God and are holy and pure and natural. It is only when these sexual desires are perverted and misdirected outside of marriage between a man and a woman that they become perverse or sinful.

Genesis 17:26–27 (NASB95)
26 In the very same day Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
27 All the men of his household, who were born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Abraham was circumcised together with his whole household. All of the men within the household of Abraham were all circumcised. This means that everyone within his household were all under covenant with God and part of this covenant included that their male organs were sacred and to be used only within marriage (between a married man and a married woman – married to each other). All other sexual relations outside of marriage between a man and a woman is forbidden by God for this reason.

Children should never be raised by single-parent working mothers because the family needs a man to provide for the family and give leadership and protection. If a single woman has to go get a job, then her children will be abandoned at home while she is away working. Children need the love and care of a mother (on a full-time basis) in order to develop normally as humans. When a country has over 50% divorce rate and over half the males in the country are raised by single-parent working mothers (without a father over that household) then they will grow up as “defected” boys. Boys need male mentoring of a father or they will join gangs and end up in prison or die young by gang violence on the streets. See the link “7K-Boy’s Club” for more details.

Genesis 17:26–27 (NASB95)
26 In the very same day Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
27 All the men of his household, who were born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Again, it is significant that every male within the household of Abraham were all circumcised. This means that all the men of Abraham’s household were under submission to his authority as his servants.

Today, we do not have servants anymore but instead each man has his own children and everyone within his household is under his own authority. When his sons mature and marry then they leave their father’s household and start a family of their own. When their daughters marry, they leave their father’s household and start a new family together with their own husbands. So, the girls are under male authority within their father’s household and then come under male authority in their husband’s new household after they are married.

If every male of every household were instructed by their fathers, they could pass the knowledge of God onto their children and grandchildren after them.

Entire Households Saved

Acts 11:13–14 (NASB95)
13 “And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, ‘Send to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;
14 and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’

God moved to bring salvation from the Jewish people to the Gentile people. God told a Gentile named Cornelius to send to Joppa and inquire about a Jewish man named Simon who is called Peter. This Jewish man was formerly one of the Twelve disciples of Jesus. An angel was sent to Cornelius to have him find Simon Peter who would preach the gospel to him. It is interesting that the angel told Cornelius specifically that Simon Peter would speak words to him by which he and his entire household would be saved.

This shows that God can bring salvation to entire households when the head of that household (in this case Cornelius) was saved. All those under his spiritual authority were also saved together with the man of the household. God moves upon entire households because the household is the building block of all society. If a man teaches his children about the things of God, then his children and grandchildren after him will pass this knowledge onto the following generations. God works with entire families for this reason through the spiritual authority of the head of the household.

Acts 16:30–33 (NASB95)
30 and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house.
33 And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household.

Again, in the case of the jailer, we see that he and his entire household was saved together. When God moves to bring a man to the light of salvation then his entire household will come to the Lord because God will bring salvation to his entire household. It seems to be easy for family members to be saved when the male head of household is saved first. The male head of household has spiritual authority over the members of his own household and can command them to be saved.

In the case of Cornelius, his entire household was also filled with the Holy Spirit (which is an indication that every member had “genuine salvation” not mental assent) prior to the baptism of the Holy Spirit coming upon them. I say this because some might think that if a man commands his household to be saved then his family members might not be sincere but only comply to the dictates of the man of the house. But on the contrary, it seems obvious that a man is given spiritual authority over his own household so that his own family members receive “genuine salvation” under the leadership of the head of their household. It seems to have big effect therefore if evangelistic efforts focus on getting heads of households saved first and then most often that entire family will also become saved. If this household is not immediately saved, then the man of the house can begin to teach his family about the things of God so that their salvations will follow later.

Without a doubt, God has given spiritual authority to the man of the house to effect spiritual change within his own family. He is the one to assume spiritual leadership within the home (not his wife). The mother can mentor her children from the youngest age about the things of God but God has ordained the man to be head of the household and the man should be in charge of the spiritual teaching and leadership that takes place within that home.

God Sees Households as Spiritual Units

Numbers 2:32 (NASB95)
32 These are the numbered men of the sons of Israel by their fathers’ households; the total of the numbered men of the camps by their armies, 603,550.

When Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt (after they were there for 430-years) then it was the heads of households which were counted. They did not count the women and children (not because they were not worthy of mention) but rather if you count a head of household then everyone within that household comes under the authority of that man. So, the number of households was 603,550, meaning that they had 603,550 Jewish families that came out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses. These people were all descendants from the specific lineage that followed that of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and his twelve sons. These twelve sons multiplied in Egypt for 430-years to become the twelves tribes of Israel and the total number of families within the twelve tribes was 603,550 Jewish families. Again, God always focuses upon the family unit headed by a male head of household.

Genesis 2:24 (NASB95)
24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

When a boy grows up to become a man, then he is to leave his father’s household and marry and start a new family unit. This newly married man then becomes a new head of household and a new family unit is started. If he will teach his children (the same as his father taught him about the things of God), then there is potential that the knowledge of God can be passed onto all future generations. But every man must not fail his obligations to utilize the spiritual authority given to him to mentor his own family in the knowledge of God. If any men fails to do this then the knowledge of God will not be passed on and the transmission of sacred knowledge will be broken for all future generations. This is why it is important that all men not only marry and procreate and have children but they are also not to fail in mentoring these children according to the principles of God’s word.

In the video above, Tucker Carlson reveals that being rich will not make anyone happy and most rich people are miserable for this reason. Seeking money for the sake of money is a dead-end pursuit that is of no value whatsoever. He advises young people to marry and have children (because this one thing fulfills the main purpose of why we as humans were created). He goes on to share some real insight about men that they will not do anything until they have to. This is proven true because many young men do not hold a steady job but will only work until they have some money for some sort of “boy’s toy” like hot-cars or fast motorcycles or guns or other hobbies. But when a man is married, then he has to become serious about caring for his family. A married man will transform into someone with “real-purpose” who lives for something that is greater than himself. When a man puts in long-hours working to feed his family, then this is an expression of his love for his wife and children. Men are created by God to be providers, and leaders and protectors of their families and herein men will find great purpose in life if they marry and start a family and then teach their children to serve God. Thus they fulfill God’s divine purpose for themselves when they have a family. Then they are to mentor their children toward the knowledge of God by teaching them how to please God and by teaching them to keep God’s commands and thus they can bring the knowledge of God into the next generation.

Starting With Young Men

It is for this reason that we will start with young military aged men and focus on teaching them about how to fulfill their future roles as married men and how to become leaders of their own households. See the link “Military Training Program” for more details.
