Aviation Scale Models
Harald Huf of Germany fabricated his own SU-27 scale model jet with the following specs:
- Length 337.5 cm (11.07 feet)
- Wingspan 226 cm (7.4 feet)
- Weight 48 KG (105 lbs.)
- Powered by two JetCat P-200 jet engines producing a maximum thrust of 52 lbs. per engine for a total of 104 lbs. of combined thrust.
There is no better way to understand aviation than to build a remote-controlled scale aircraft from scratch. Such a project will cause a young man to understand how an aircraft functions from the ground up. The remote-controlled flight of Harald Huf’s scale model SU-27 can be seen at the link “Harald Huf SU-27.”
The Russian made Sukhoi SU-27 is a direct competitor of fourth-generation fighters like the F-15 Eagle. It has a 3,530 KM range, heavy aircraft ordnance, sophisticated avionics and high maneuverability. A video of the maneuverability of the SU-27 can be seen at this link: “Sukhoi Maneuvers.”
